A JAZZ band inspired by the sounds of New Orleans will be performing this weekend.
The John Petters New Orleans All Stars will be at Wickham Bishops Jazz Club in Wickham Bishops village hall this Saturday (November 9).
A spokesman said: “A flamboyant drummer in the style of Gene Krupa, Petters has an impressive CV, including recordings with such American jazz legends as Wild Bill Davidson, Art Hodes, Yank Lawson and Kenny Davern.
“He has appeared on albums with Humphrey Lyttelton, George Chisholm and Ken Coyler.
“The term ‘all-stars’ is an often overused description, but in the case of the Petters band, it is certainly apt.
“Expect an exciting few hours of music, ranging from Dixieland standards, such as Tiger Rag and At the Jazz Band Ball to songs by Fats Waller and a few New Orleans spirituals and blues thrown in for good measure.”
Featured among its ranks will be musicians Jim Douglas, Gary Davidson, Allen Beechey, Karl Hird, Tim Huskisson and Keith Donald.
Tickets cost £12.50 and doors open from 6.30pm for a 7.30pm start.
