PLANS to turn a butchers shop into a home have been rejected.
Warnes Butchers applied to Tendring Council to turn the shop, in Garland Road, Parkeston, into a two-bedroom house, along with permission for an extension at the back.
Ramsey and Parkeston Parish Council said the change of use would prevent the building becoming derelict given surrounding retail outlets have “overcome the need for more localised shops”.
But the application was rejected by Tendring Council planning officers, who said the site lies in a high risk flood zone and the applicant had not demonstrated how the development will manage the flood risk.
