A MOTHER claims her weekend getaway was ruined after a tipper truck driver hit her car from behind.

Kelly Orwin, 44, said she was left shaken and in pain after a tipper truck drove into the back of her Vauxhall Agila when she was in Long Meadows, in Dovercourt, at about 10.50am on Sunday.

“We were scared to death and he made the girls a nervous wreck."

The single mother, from Rochford, near Southend, said she had driven to Dovercourt to see her father and wanted to treat her nine-year-old daughter, Macy Ashley and niece, Jessica Rickson, to a trip to the seaside.

But she claims their planned day out ended in misery when the tipper driver went into the back of her car.

She said the driver then drove off without stopping.

She said: “We were scared to death and he made the girls a nervous wreck.

“It was so scary, I’m still very shaken.

“Now I’m left without a car and my car is my lifeline- it was a present from my dad.

“I’m still very shaken up and sore.”

It is understood the same driver was then involved in another collision a few miles away on the A120 between Dovercourt and Colchester.

An Essex Police spokesman said: “The driver did stop and exchange details with one of the drivers and we facilitated with giving his details with another driver.

“There were concerns regarding the man’s ability to drive and he was subsequently stopped on the A120 near Colchester where he passed a breath test and drug test.”

He added: “We have also passed our details to Ms Orwin and we are waiting to hear back from her.

“Our investigations are on-going.”
