WORKS are being carried out to replace traffic lights at a busy junction before they become "unreliable" and "fail to work properly".
Essex Highways has announced plans to renew the traffic signals at the junction of B1352 High Street and B1414, in Kingsway, Dovercourt.
The work is expected to start on February 3 and set to take about three weeks to complete.
An Essex Highways spokesman said: "We will be replacing the traffic signals at the junction before they become unreliable and fail to work properly and will be installing new extra low voltage equipment which will help reduce our carbon footprint.
"The pedestrian facilities will also be upgraded to puffin crossings."
The works will be taking place from 8am until 5pm Monday to Friday.
There will be temporary traffic signals as work is carried out.
Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times and Essex Highways is set to install temporary controlled pedestrian crossings in High Street and Kingsway.
