A NEW brewery in Lawford will bring its drinks to a beer festival, giving real ale lovers their first opportunity to taste its wares.

Jack Rabbit Brewing Co is a new micro-brewery and the real ale is so new Harwich Beer Festival organisers do not yet know what it will be called.

Colin Cheesman, chairman of the festival organising committee, said: “It’s great to have a new brewery in our area and we are all looking forward to trying the beer at the Harwich and Dovercourt Bay Winter Ale Festival.”

The Harwich and Dovercourt Winter Ale Festival will be “music free” after it was introduced as an experiment at the Kingsway Hall and has proved to be a very popular change. Mr Cheesman said: “There is nothing more sociable than a chat over a glass of real ale and the feedback from festival goers was they preferred it without music, our team of volunteers are looking forward to a great beer festival where you can hear yourself drink.”

The new beer will be one of the 50 real ales, ciders and perries, which will be available in the Kingsway Hall, in Dovercourt town centre at this year’s festival.

The four-day long festival will begin on Wednesday, from 5pm to 11pm, while on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, between November 21 and 23 it will start from 11am to 11pm.
