A KIND-HEARTED youngster who organised a fundraising event in memory of his mum has raised more than £800 for a charity.

Taylor Roberts, from Ramsey, hosted a charity night to raise money for Cancer Research UK after his mum Dawn Roberts-Fuller lost her battle with the disease in March.

The event took place at the United Services Club, in Barrack Lane, Harwich last month.

The 13-year-old, who attends Harwich and Dovercourt High School, said the night went really well, with different games, such as how many sweets are in the jar, name the doll and many more.

There was also live music and a DJ for guests to enjoy.

He said: “We had a very big raffle where we had more than 40 prizes. These prizes include a trip to Holland, a meal for two at Samuel Pepys, a £50 voucher for Thai up at the Quay, and £20 voucher for the Mandarin House restaurant. There were quite a lot of people, it was very busy and lots of people came along.

“We would like to thank everybody who donated prizes, helped out in the night, and for the help with organising this event, as well as to people who donated money to the charity.

“I’m happy with how the night went, as it went really smoothly.”
