A couple of broken ribs, fractured vertebrae, considerable damage to both intestines, lacerations to the pancreas and liver and a broken pelvis are just some of the injuries a motorcyclist suffered when a driver failed to check his mirrors before turning.

Harry Pocknell spent the next 18 months in and out of hospital after the accident in February 2008 but said he is still in the process of making a full recovery both mentally and physically.

And now the 33-year-old of Castle Hedingham has joined a new charity, Kelly’s Heroes, to support survivors and their families whose lives have been affected by road traffic collisions.
