A DETERMINED young beautician, who opened her new salon just seven months ago, is looking forward to reopening after being named one of the UK’s top new salons.

Lois Williamson, 20, from Halstead, only opened her beauty salon, Si Belle Beauty, in September, during the pandemic.

But the Dunmow salon and its young owner have already won major plaudits at a top UK awards ceremony.

During a virtual ceremony, the UK’s Hair & Beauty Awards 2021 named Lois and her business in the top 50 best new salons in the entire country.

Her business also appeared in the top 50 best eyelash extension salons and Lois was named in the top 50 for entrepreneur of the year.

Lois is now looking forward to reopening on Monday.

She said: “Many people thought it was risky opening a salon in the midst of the pandemic, but it was the best decision I made.

“I have built up such a loyal client base that have allowed me to survive through even more lockdowns.

“When I saw the premises up for rent, I knew it was too good to pass by so I took the leap, spent thousands to decorate the space and make it the beautiful place it is now.

“I am so excited to open from April 12. All my clients are booked in and I have two new people joining my team.

“I am trying to keep as positive as I can in regards to opening. I know we are ready with the correct PPE and if it does get pushed back, we have survived it this far, we will get there soon.

“Lockdown has allowed me to pivot my business, grow the beauty training academy side by creating online courses for those wanting to learn.

“It has taught so many business owners that you have to be prepared for anything.”
