NEW figures show an area of Witham remains the only place in the district where a coronavirus-related death has not occurred.

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) has recorded every death in England and Wales where Covid-19 has been mentioned on an individual's death certificate.

The new data shows the number of deaths involving Covid-19 split by small areas within local authorities up until the end of June.

Due to a time lag in the reporting of figures, caused by the length of time taken between date of death and the date it is officially registered, the true death toll may not be revealed for several months.

The data shows the location of 117 deaths which have occurred in the region.

It does not include the new death announced by the Office for National Statistics this week.

The death happened in hospital on the week ending July 17.

The updated map of deaths in the district shows West Witham is the only place where there has not been a death linked to Covid-19.
