FRIENDS of Scott Gilhooly admit they have surprised by the response to the charity single released in his memory.

Mr Gilhooly’s cover version of Only You, by Yazoo, surged to the top of music charts just days after it was released.

All profits made from the single will be given to homeless charity Hope House and ensure Mr Gilhooly’s legacy lives on after his death.

Although the song has started to drop down the charts, those behind the project admit they are grateful to those who have purchased or downloaded the single.

David Elliott, who has helped organise the project, said: “We would just like to say thank you to everyone who had supported what we have done with Scott’s song.

“Achieving number 1 on Itunes and Amazon was an amazing achievement by everyone, leaving behind a lasting memory of Scott.

“All the money raised for Hope House will really help the homeless in the area and make a massive difference.”

David says he remains hopeful the song will continue to be downloaded in the coming months.
