THE latest data shows that a further four people have died at the trusts which run mid Essex hospitals over the last 48 hours.

Figures released by NHS England show that four people have died at the Mid Essex Hospital Services Trust, which runs Broomfield Hospital, bringing its total to 166 and the total in mid Essex to 175.

Halstead Hospital has not recorded any deaths over the last 48 hours and neither has Braintree Hospital or St Peter's Hospital in Maldon.

The numbers in the whole of Essex have been on the rise with 13 deaths in the eleven trusts which run the county's hospitals bring the total to 1,129 from 1,116.

Of the eleven trusts, only five recorded any deaths as a result of coronavirus in the last 48 hours including the Mid Essex Hospital Services Trust.

The East Suffolk and North Essex Foundation trust, which runs Colchester Hospital, recorded a total of 4 deaths at its hospitals, bringing the total to 292

A further three deaths were recorded at the Basildon and Thurrock University Hospital trust where the total has now risen to 254.

The overall number of deaths at the princess Alexandra NHS Trusts grew to 197 when it recorded a death on the Saturday while Clacton Hospital recorded its second death of the pandemic.

The total number of deaths in England has also risen from 22,972 to 23,359.

  • Southend: 174
  • Mid Essex Trust: 166
  • Anglian Community Enterprise- Fryatt Hospital: 19
  • Essex Partnership Trust: 16
  • Provide - Braintree Community Hospital: 6
  • Provide - St Peter's Hospital, Maldon: 2
  • Provide - Halstead Hospital: 1
  • Anglian Community Enterprise- Clacton Hospital: 2
