WORK continues to progress with the town centre pedestrianisation scheme.
A main section of paving work in Braintree High Street has recently been completed, with paving work now moving into Great Square.
Work has also begun in Market Place to lay the tarmac ready for the resin and paving to be added at a later stage.
In April work resumes after Braintree Council appointed a new contractor to complete the scheme.
Councillor Tom Cunningham said: “It’s great to see the recent progress of works for the pedestrianisation scheme.
"I want to thank all residents, businesses and visitors for their ongoing patience and understanding during the works.
"We recognise that there has been some delay in completing some of the existing works and we understand the frustrations, and we look forward to completing these as soon as we can with our construction partner."

The work will see Market Place, Great Square and the High Street transformed into a new public space with one-level paving, street furniture, CCTV, Wi-Fi hotspots, trees and new seating areas.
Although the completion date for the whole scheme is August, certain areas will be complete before then.
The multi-million pedestrianisation scheme is part of a major investment in the town centre alongside the £30million Victoria Square development.
It hopes to modernise the town centre to bring more people into the centre, boost trade for existing local businesses, but also attract new businesses into Braintree.
