I went to vote in the local elections, and it was not until I went into the polling booth that I found out who was standing for election.
Only two of the parties concerned had sent me any literature about who they were and I have not been canvassed for an election, either for a national or local election, for more than 30 years.
I live in the middle of a village, not up an obscure rural lane.
How can one expect people to vote if they do not know who the candidates are, let alone what they stand for.
