Trees were felled as Colchester and north Essex were battered by strong winds.
A section of Lexden Road, near the junction with Norman Way, was blocked shortly before 5.30pm on Friday by a large tree.
Essex Police were on scene while the tree was cleared.

A yellow weather warning for wind was in place throughout yesterday until midnight.
It covered a large part of Essex, including Colchester, Harwich, Clacton and Braintree.
Colchester Road, in West Bergholt, was completely blocked by a fallen tree yesterday afternoon.

Bus routes 66 and route 754 were affected by the incident.
The Met Office had warned of strong gales leading to "some disruption."
A spokesman said: "A period of strong northerly winds is expected to develop across East Anglia on Friday morning and persist into the evening.
"Gusts of 45-55 mph are likely at times across parts of East Anglia with 60-65 mph gusts at times in coastal districts.
"Persistent rain may also prove an additional hazard."
In Clacton, motorists were caught in delays after strong winds toppled a large tree near St John's Road.
Crews from nearby Clacton Fire Station helped to clear the tree from St John's Road after it came down shortly before 4.30pm on Friday.

Fire crews helped to control traffic in St John's Road until contractors arrived to remove the remainder of the tree.
