AS a regular walkers, we have noticed with great sadness how untidy this town has become and we cannot blame the Covid-19 pandemic for everything.
The footpath leading to Hilly Fields from St Mary’s area is overgrown with nettles and bramble bushes taking over the pathway.
The theatre which has reopened looking quite resplendent with a smart paved area, tables, seats and planters filled with plants as well as other various stands filled with flowers, but, oh dear, you go round the corner towards Jumbo and you see a mass of long grass and weeds which have taken over the rose beds that always looked attractive and cared for.
This is only one small part of the town and rubbish attracts more rubbish, which leads to complacency and vandalism.
Natural meadows and the like need a certain amount of work to become attractive, if that is what our local council are aiming for.
