COLCHESTER'S Covid infection rate is now double the average for Essex, with one part of the borough recording more than 40 cases in a week.
A map produced using Government data shows the number of cases and infection rates in each part of the town.
According to the figures, in the week to June 22, Greenstead recorded 41 cases of Covid - the highest in the borough.
The neighbourhood which recorded the second highest number of cases was Wivenhoe and University with 22.
Third was New Town and Hythe with 18 followed by Prettygate and Westlands with 17.
Two parts of the borough recorded less than three cases in the week to June 22 - West Bergholt and Wormingford and Tiptree.

This means the virus is classed as "suppressed" in these parts of the borough.

- West Bergholt & Wormingford - less than three
- Tiptree - less than three
Colchester' average Covid infection rate also continues to rise.
In the week to June 22 it was 105.3 cases per 100,000 people.
There were 205 cases confirmed in the borough during this week.
This is more than double the average for Essex - which is 52 cases per 100,000 people.
Tendring's average infection rate during this week was 21.2 cases per 100,000 people.
The Government's vaccination roll out continued to ramp up, with walk-in centres being set up in Colchester over the weekend.
