Since my previous letter, a member or members of the public complained to trading standards officers, who in turn reported to the police that live rounds were fired at our stall at the military show in Harwich and Point Clear show. Absolute rubbish. I cannot believe anybody would believe live rounds were fired.

Children and adults were instructed in gun safety and how to hold and fire a pistol. Safety glasses and ear defenders were worn while firing.

The empty blank cases were given as a memento to them. Permission was given to me to fire the blank-firing pistol in a secure area, which I did at both shows. Why don’t people who are ignorant of the true facts just get on with their own lives and not interfere and upset people who give enjoyment to others? So now, because of the person who complained, we have been asked by the police to cease firing our toy blank firer to raise essential funds for our veterans’ group.
