IN TODAY'S GAZETTE: A COUPLE on holiday saved the life of a boy seriously injured by a boat's propeller.
Lawrence Harridge, of Church Road, Tiptree, dived into the water to help the youngster and lifted him into a boat where his wife, Vanessa, worked to stem the bleeding.
* Gold medal glory is one race away for Mersea sailor Saskia Clark.
The island is expected to come to a standstill to watch her and Hannah Mills compete in the final 470 race tomorrow.
* Team GB has paid tribute to sports fan Conrad Readman, of Colchester, who collapsed and died at the Olympic velodrome. Mr Readman had tickets to 53 events. A spokesman for Team GB said: "His support for Team GB and the London 2012 Olympic Games is something we greatly appreciate."
* Lifeguards at Colchester Leisure World saved a man's life after he suffered a suspected heart attack in the swimming pool.
