* A fisherman has landed what is thought to be the largest stingray ever caught in the UK.
Tony Talbot, who sells fish from Tony's Fresh Fish stall in Point Clear, netted the 72 lbs and 7 oz fish at Beach Head, two miles off Mersea.
* Experts are trying to stop a pesticide, which has already killed thousands of fish in the River Colne, from flowing into Colchester.
