AN ELDERLY man was taken to hospital after tripping over a pavement marked for repairs - but not fixed.
The man, thought to be aged 76, was taken to Colchester General Hospital for treatment after he fell over a crack in the path along Ipswich Road, Colchester.
A spokesman for Essex County Council, responsible for the footpath, said: “We are sorry to hear of this incident and wish to pass on our best wishes to the gentleman who had the fall.
“Essex County Council is responsible for the pavement alongside Ipswich Road, including this part.
“The section of pavement in question was inspected and marked up on April 24. As it was not considered to be dangerous it was programmed for repair by the end of May, although given the recent incident we will re-inspect it within the next few days."
