SAVVY students could save themselves almost £40 by applying for a rebate on their TV licence.

If they are moving back home for the summer holidays and no longer need their own licence they can claim back a quarter of the fee if there are three clear calendar months before the licence expires.

A successful claim will net them £36.37.

Victoria Sykes of TV Licensing said: “With the end of term on the horizon and summer holidays fast approaching it’s great news for students who bought a licence last September or October to know they can claim some cash back.

“As well as reminding students they need to be correctly licensed to watch programmes as they are shown on TV we also want to remind them to take advantage of the refund before they move back home for the summer.”
