THE owner of a disused former garage site is being urged to clean it up so people going to a nearby GP surgery can park there.

The old Watts Car Sales site, in Parsons Heath, Colchester, has stood unused for five years and is an eyesore, according to Parsons Heath Residents’ Association chairman Gillian Bolderstone.

She said: “It has gone on long enough. We want the site brought back into some sort of use. If it is going to sit like that, we would like it used for something practical.”

Parsons Heath Surgery’s car park regularly floods, forcing patients to park outside homes in Churnwood Road.

Paul Smith, the ward borough councillor, also wants something done about the site.

He said: “I would like to see it used for some form of employment, but if that doesn’t prove viable I would prefer to see it used for housing, houses rather than using a greenfield.”

The land is owned by Ardleigh-based Haddocks Hyundai, which at one time planned to use it for secondhand car sales. No one was available from the dealership to comment.
