AN activity and leisure day will be held in memory of a young Wivenhoe man who died of cancer, aged 24.

Friends and relatives of Robin Freeman are organising the event at Millfields School in Bowes Road, Wivenhoe, tomorrow between 10am and 4.30pm. It will include aerobics, zumba, outdoor exercise and street dance classes, meditation and flower arranging.

Proceeds will go to St Helena Hospice, which cared for the Robin, a former Colchester Institute student and drummer in the band Idle.

Robin, of Queens Road, Wivenhoe, died at the hospice in Colchester last December.

Saturday evening will see the launch of the Robin Cancer Trust at a quiz night at Wivenhoe Football Club.

A raffle will help raise funds for the charity, which has been set up by Robin’s parents, Mark and Lorna, and his brothers Adam and Toby.

The cost of participating in the activity and leisure day is £1 per children’s session, £3 for most of the outdoor and exercise classes and £5 for flower arranging and meditation.
