A WOMAN who was subjected to a decade-long campaign of sexual abuse by her father will take part in a 26-mile walk to raise funds for a support group.

Earlier this year, Emma Frost, of Kirby Cross, bravely waived her anonymity and spoke about her ordeal in a bid to raise awareness of the Colchester-based Phoenix Post.

The 22-year-old was abused by her father, Christopher, for ten years. He was jailed for life at Ipswich Crown Court in December.

Miss Frost will take part in the marathon walk from Walton’s Naze Tower to Colchester High Street on June 16.

She said: “I want to do it because I have suffered from sexual abuse and felt let down by many services.

“The point of this campaign is to help victims of sexual abuse. But Phoenix Post needs £60,000 to offer the services it is working towards.

"The group is close to my heart, as it is for people who don’t want to deal with authorities, but need someone to talk to.”

Emma claimed she was given little support from social services and the police during the trial.

The internet-based group is run by child abuse survivor Shy Keenan and Sara Payne, the mother of schoolgirl Sarah Payne, who was murdered by paedophile Roy Whiting in 2000.
