X FACTOR auditions will take place in Colchester’s Lion Walk, it has been revealed.

The hit ITV show is set to hear from wannabe popstars tomorrow.

Mobile auditions are a new addition to the show’s format to help uncover talent in towns where it does not hold full-scale auditions.

Hopefuls aiming to be the next Matt Cardle or Olly Murs, do not need to book and can just turn up at the shopping centre from 9.30am.

Auditions will be held until 4pm.

Paul Bentham, Lion Walk manager said: “It’s a big show. It’s a perfect complement to our Sunday Soundays talent shows we have planned.”

Cerise Peverell, 15, from Clacton, said: “It is exciting X Factor is coming so close. We are all big fans of the show.”

The roadshow will bring the X Factor vans to the performance square opposite Boots.

Auditions, which will be filmed, but not televised, will take place in a gazebo in front of producers.

Hannah Davidson, production co-ordinator, said: “All applicants for the show have been through stage one of our audition process and this small tour of the UK is only for those who missed out on the chance to apply or could not attend our local audition day.”

Wristbands and time slots will be allocated if more people turn up than expected.
