THE days of Ministry of Defence police officers could soon be over, it is feared.
Colchester MP Sir Bob Russell, speaking earlier today, challenged the Government to “come clean” over the future of the force.
Speaking in the House of Commons he complained about cuts in the number of MoD police in Colchester from 30 to three during the time Labour were in power and the extra strain this puts on police officers in Colchester.
Now he fears proposals to transfer the military criminal investigations department to county police forces could spell the end of the force entirely.
Garrison estates were previously policed by the MoD force with Colchester also having the regular force and Royal Military Police.
