ESSEX Fire Brigade is urging residents to check their smoke alarm when they change their clocks tomorrow (Sunday).
The clocks go forward one hour tomorrow, and Essex County Fire and Rescue Service say this is the perfect opportunity to test your smoke alarm.
Divisional Officer Terry Povey said: "Every home should have a smoke alarm but once those alarms are fitted they must be tested regularly to make sure they are working.
"Testing a smoke alarm takes only a few seconds and provides reassurance you will get the early warning which is so important when a fire breaks out.
"Why not take the opportunity to test your smoke alarm at the same time as changing the clocks this weekend and ensure that you and your family are safe."
