NEW club night Fump hits Colchester tomorrow, promising to serve up the best in undergound house and techno.

What better way to do that than by geting one of the best DJs in the business, Mark Broom.

Since the start of the Nineties, former East Londoner, now Norfolk-based, Mark has always been synonymous with the UK electronic music scene.

He has a myriad of production credits to his name, having worked with renowned labels such as Mo-Wax, Warp, R&S, Soma and 2020 vision.

It started in the summer of 1989 when he landed in Tenerife on holiday, and stumbled across the delights of the emerging sounds of Chicago and acid house. Returning to the UK, he went in search of this music and, as a regular customer at London’s Fatcat record store, found himself at the centre of a burgeoning scene.

Over the past two decades, Mark’s played around the globe at some of the world’s best clubs including Fuse, La Real and Florida 135.

Promoter Joe Morgan says of the new club: “The main room will be turned into an underground paradise, back to basics, darkness, strobes, smoke and lasers. Somewhere you can lose yourself to the music. The music will be top quality modern techno, and we are excited to have secured the services of a long-time legend of the scene in Mark Broom.

“He has produced some huge tunes over the years and is a massively in demand DJ in the world of techno.”

In the upstairs room, Fump promises house grooves with headline act Geddes, a pioneer of the modern London house scene.

As well as Mark and Geddes, other acts on the night include LittleJoe, Aris, Andy Burr, Discreet Soundsystem, Gavin Rayner and Dutchie.
