With regard to house sales being affected by the dispute over Hythe’s Bridge House (Gazette, September 29), I cannot believe it could remain derelict for years.

What about people in the Hythe wanting to sell our homes?

This is a body blow for residents, who will be unable to get top prices for their property because of this derelict building.

A neighbour has had his house for sale for five months and he is getting feedback that while they like the house, they do not like the approach to the estate.

How dare Bridge House owner Mr Davies whinge about the thousands of pounds he is expected to pay as part of a Section 31 agreement? What about the money we might lose?

I also have no sympathy with Colchester Council.

Let’s get the Hythe back to being a place people want to come and live.

Residents will not put up with much more of this and will soon start to seek compensation.
