A YOUNG man has been left fighting for his life following a motorcycle crash in Harwich.
The 20-year-old suffered head and chest injuries during the incident, which happened at 2.30am.
The crash happened after the rider of a silver moped lost control of the machine while travelling along Station Road and fell off.
His pillion passenger also fell from the bike while it was still moving.
A spokesman for Essex Police said: “Both men, who are aged 20 and 23 and who live in the town, were conveyed to Colchester General Hospital via land ambulance.
“The 23-year-old man this afternoon discharged himself from hospital despite sustaining serious internal injuries.
“The 20-year-old man was transferred to the Royal London Hospital after sustaining head and chest injuries.
“He is currently in a critical, life-threatening condition.”
