Once again we have another story of Colchester Council’s black bin bags splitting open too easily (Gazette September 30) and once again we see comments from the council denying the bags are too thin.
For the many hundreds, probably thousands of residents, who have had the misfortune of seeing their bin bag split open with ease, Mr Hunt’s comments will have them choking on their morning cereal.
He claims the “council is satisfied with the strength of the bin bags and feels they are fit for purpose when used appropriately”.
The simple fact is the old bags worked.
The new ones are not fit for purpose and once again Colchester Council has proved how good it is at ignoring the old adage “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”.
And by doing so it demonstrates an arrogance which also proves how out of touch it is with tax paying residents.
