A PREGNANT woman and her seven-year-old son were left shaken after a hit and run driver smashed into their car.

Yas Rai’s partner Wendy was driving in Mersea Road on Thursday at 4.15pm when a Ford Focus car pulled out of Meyrick Crescent and hit her Vauxhall Meriva.

Wendy, who is 24 weeks pregnant, and son Jake, seven, were unhurt but the Focus driver did not stop.

Mr Rai said: “She was slowing at the zebra crossing when a car hit the passenger side door where my son was sitting.

“It was a relief to hear they were okay.

“It makes me angry when you go about your business then someone decides to whack into you and not accept responsibility.”

“There was a guy crossing who thinks he got the number plate and we have passed all the details to the police.”

Mr Rai has urged the driver to look to his conscience and hand himself in.

Anyone with information can call Colchester police on 101.
