Two men have been arrested on suspicion of sparking a police chase across Clacton in a stolen car.
A 25-year-old and a 23-year-old man were arrested and bailed until October 7 on suspicion of driving offences and stealing a green Range Rover which police pursued through the coastal town’s streets on Friday.
Drivers had to swerve out of the way to avoid hitting the vehicle as it tried to escape police.
The chase began at 10.15am when the 4x4 jumped a red light in Rosemary Road.
It then sped off along Station Road where it overtook a bus.
From there police pursued it along Old Road, Severn Road, Oxford Road and Valley Road and Sladburys Lane before it came to a halt in Dovedale Gardens where the occupants left the vehicle and ran off.
Any witnesses should call Pc Julie Cosson at Clacton Police Station on 101.
