A CHARITY is trying to reclaim the title of largest piggy back race for Colchester.

History Maker Foundation helped to win the accolade for the town last October with 145 piggy-backing pairs taking part.

Four weeks later it was snatched away by Diesel Jeans, which had two more participants.

Sisters Anna and Charity Pancaldi, of the History Maker Foundation, hope to regain the title on October 2.

Ann said: “It was really infuriating.

“We are a small charity and Diesel Jeans is a huge commercial company.

“We want to reclaim the record.”

The attempt will raise money for the foundation, which helps disadvantaged and disabled children take part in outdoor pursuits.

Anna and Charity’s brother Joey, a Christian youth worker, was 20 when he died climbing in the Scottish Highlands three years ago.

It prompted his family to start the History Maker Foundation.

The piggy back race takes place on Sunday, October 2 in Lower Castle Park.

To take part turn up on the day from 2.30pm. The race will start at 3.30pm. Entry is £2 per person.
