PLANS for a visual interpretation of Britain’s only Roman chariot circus are due to be submitted next week.
Colchester Archaeological Trust has drawn up a design to interpret and display the site of the starting gates of the circus.
And the Trust’s director Philip Crummy said the aim was to bring history to life.
The plans, which are due to be submitted to Colchester Council, will see the site of the eight gates fenced off with gates installed allowing the public access every day.
Inside the gardens, replica stones stumps will be built on the exact site of the original gates.
Two of them will be hollow and glass topped to allow visitors to see the foundations of one of the gates and one of the entrance pillars.
