AGE Concern have been handed £30,000 to help elderly residents claim the benefits they are entitled to.
Colchester Council has awarded the grant to Age Concern Colchester to help the rising number of aging residents struggling in the town.
The charity used a similar award last year to help nearly 400 elderly residents claim £1 million in benefits such as pension credits.
The money part-funds the project where staff and volunteers make appointments to visit people in their homes before helping them through the often complicated benefits application procedures.
