A JEWELLERY shop is closing after three years due to lack of trade.

Daisey Crossman, 40, poured her life savings into opening Daisey Boo, in Halstead’s High Street, but says the town has been badly hit by the recession.

The former police control room officer is moving her business to Gosfield Shopping Village because the number of shoppers in Halstead is too low and rent is too high.

Mrs Crossman, of Little Yeldham, said: “We don’t take enough to even cover the rent.”

She will open her new shop, with the same, name next Thursday and said although the number of shoppers might be similar there, the rent was cheaper and people would not have to pay to park.

She is only taking one employee with her, which means two will lose their jobs.

The married mother-of-five said: “I am sad to leave the shop because I put all my savings in this and I have kind of lost it now.

“If it wasn’t for the recession, we would still be here. Halstead has been hit a lot harder than some towns.”
