I’d like to respond to your article (Gazette, January 27) about changes to some of our sheltered schemes.

I’d like to reassure residents at Heathfields House and the Cannons, the two extra-care schemes we run which were mentioned in the article.

Essex County Council has proposed that Heathfields House changes from being an “extra-care”

scheme to a sheltered housing scheme.

This is because of a drop in the number of residents who need on-site care services.

Each resident will still have an individually worked-out care plan, so they get the help they need.

Our scheme managers will still be able to provide housing- related support. The amount of care residents get will not change.

The Cannons is to continue as an extra-care scheme, so the level of care and support residents receive will stay the same.

No one should have to move as a result of changes and there are no plans to demolish either of the schemes.
