A POSTER advertising a club night in Colchester which combines Father Christmas and a woman’s legs in suggestive fashion has led to complaints from parents.

The posters are being displayed outside Liquid and Envy nightclub, in the High Street.

But the graphic picture has led one parent, who did not want to be named, to make an official complaint to the club’s owners.

Stephen Lynn, spokesman for Luminar, which owns the chain of nightclubs, said it was a national poster campaign and it was the first complaint it had received in the three weeks since they had been put up to promote office parties.

“Our festive posters are intended to demonstrate the sense of fun that can be found in Liquid and Envy. They are designed to appeal to the age group that attends nightclubs and should be taken in this way.”

But some walking past the club said they felt it was inappropriate.

Becky Gregory, 23, of Holland Road, Clacton, said she would prefer the poster to be inside the club.

She said her son Alfie, three, was probably not old enough to understand the poster’s connotations, but she would be concerned if he saw it in a couple of years.

Mark Baker, also from Clacton, said: “It is very rude.

“I would not want to have to explain that to my son.

“I don’t think it is just a bit of fun, and if it is meant to be for the people that go to the club, put it inside.”
