COLCHESTER’S Leisure World is wasting much less power than it used to, an assessment has found.
In 2009, the centre was given a performance rating of 79, constituting a D grade, on a scale of A to G, with A being excellent.
A recent assessment upgraded its performance to 69 - a C rating.
The improvement has been put down to a new roof, double glazed windows and other changes to the fitness pool, as well as the installation of a power perfector with the Combined Heat and Power Unit.
Tina Dopson, councillor responsible for communities, said: “The significant improvement in the energy rating at Leisure World is a great achievement and goes to show that Colchester Council takes energy conservation very seriously.”
