ANOTHER top name has been announced for this year’s Concerts at the Castle in Colchester.
X Factor’s Stacey Solomon will join a host of artists, including Bucks Fizz, Brotherhood of Man and Hot Chocolate, who have already been named for the 2010 line-up.
The diva from Dagenham stole the hearts of millions of people with her soaring vocals and unassuming persona in last year’s X Factor competition on TV.
Single-mum Stacey was just 20 when she entered the competition, impressing judge Simon Cowell in her very first audition with a powerful rendition of Sam Cooke’s Wonderful World.
Mentored by judge Danni Minogue, she survived the public vote for all but the last week of the live shows, and finally bowed out a graceful third behind fellow Essex hopeful Olly Murs and eventual winner Joe McElderry.
Since then she has been touring the club circuit and doing personal appearances all over the country.
This year’s Concerts at the Castle take place on July 30 and 31.
Stacey will be performing at Friday night’s Eurovision Pop Party with Bucks Fizz and Brotherhood of Man, who won the competition in 1981 and 1976 respectively.
This will be followed by a Motown Boogie Night on the Saturday, starring Hot Chocolate.
The end-of-night fireworks will be provided each evening by Colchester-based Dynamic Fireworks.
