Graham Napier will be missing again as Essex seek a vast improvement at Somerset in LV= County Championship division one.
Colchester all-rounder Napier was absent for both of Essex’s heavy defeats in the last few days – to Lancashire by eight wickets in the Championship and Yorkshire by ten wickets in the CB40 – because of a shoulder problem.
And he will not be available for at least another week, as Essex begin their four-day clash at Taunton today.
It has been an unspectacular start to the season for Napier, who played in the opening two Championship matches.
