An unemployed 48-year-old Billericay man has been charged with drink driving after a head on collison in the town.

The crash happened in Meadow Rise just before 9.30pm on Monday evening between a Ford Focus and Nissan van.

The occupants of the car were treated in Basildon Hospital for minor injuries.

The driver, a 20-year-old woman, was treated for chest pains and the passenger, a ten-year-old boy, for a knee injury.

The driver of the van was arrested on suspecion of drink driving and later charged.

He is due before Basildon magistrates on Tuesday April 11.
