A campaigner has accused Southend Council of not doing enough for the blind.
Jill Allen-King has been registered blind since 1964 and is secretary of the Southend and District branch of National Federation of the Blind.
Mrs Allen-King, 66, said: "Since I became totally blind in 1964, Southend Council has not given me one piece of equipment.
"I've had to pay for everything myself.
"When you're blind you need altered items such as clocks and watches. They cost a lot more than when you're sighted.
"You've got to go to the RNIB for them. You still have to pay for them."
Southend Council said they didn't have any records of Mrs Allen-King asking for help.
