FOUR people have appeared in court after a series of street robberies across Essex led to a man being stabbed.

A 21-year-old man was attacked in Magdalen Street, Colchester.

He received injuries to his arm, hand and pelvis, a court heard.

Colchester Magistrates’ Court was told the charges related to five knifepoint robberies late on Saturday night and in the early hours of Sunday.

It is alleged a getaway car was used during the robberies, which started in Basildon, continued in Colchester and ended in Clacton.

Mother-of-eight Nicola Patmore, 36, of Gloucester Avenue, Colchester, is charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent and another charge of perverting the course of justice.

Benjamin Ling, 24, of Creffield Road, Colchester, is charged with five counts of robbery.

Jazz West, 18, of Cornflower Close, Stanway, faces five charges of robbery, one of grievous bodily harm with intent, four common assaults and one of possessing an offensive weapon.

A 16-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, also faces five charges of robbery, a charge of grievous bodily harm with intent, possession of an offensive weapon and two charges of possessing bladed articles. All four defendants have been remanded in custody to appear at Chelmsford Crown Court for a plea and case management hearing on June 21.
