In reply to your news story about a £72,000 grant for “flooded” roads in Colchester (Gazette, March 25), Brooklands in Jaywick IS better than Colchester, and the proof is this: It never floods in Brooklands.

It has flooded quite a few times since Clactonian man was found here, but it has never “flooded” in the real sense since the new sea wall was erected after the 1953 floods.

In the new Essex and Suffolk shoreline management plan, Managing the Coast, it clearly sets out that until 2055, they will hold the line in sea defences for dear old Jaywick, but will let Frintons golf course go to the ravages of the sea!

Good luck to poor old Colchester’s residents living in flooded roads, even if it only happens because of over population in High Woods. Oh, and the tides!

Now, as I have to visit Mersea Island, just where did I put my tide times chart? For Cowdray Avenue, subtract about 10 minutes, I would think.
