SOUTHEND United owner Ron Martin has revealed plans for the team's new stadium will be submitted in the next few months.

In an exclusive interview, Mr Martin told the Echo he wanted to increase the capacity of the new stadium from 15,000 to 17,000 to capitalise on good crowd numbers.

He said there would be a "retail and leisure" component to the development, although he would not be drawn on the details, due to go before the council before the season starts in August.
