SOUTHEND United's dream of a new stadium today took a giant leap forward as chairman Ron Martin became sole owner of the club.
Mr Martin vowed to press ahead with the new stadium plan after acquiring the remaining shares in the club from London-based Delancey Estates.
The announcement came as Southend United beat local rivals Colchester United 3-0, consolidating the club's position at the top of League One and furthering their chances of a money-spinning promotion to the Coca-Cola Championship.
