Vandals scrawled graffiti over a village community centre in the latest of several acts of "mindless" vandalism over the past few years.
Words written in a white, sugary-like substance were found daubed on a window, door and fence at Great Notley Community Centre.
Caretaker Keith Hind, who discovered the mess, said: "It's just petty, mindless vandalism."
In the past, mud had been thrown at windows, parts of the fence ripped off and young trees had been pulled out of the ground from the Essex Cricketers pub next door when it first opened a few years ago, said Mr Hind.
Police say the graffiti was written sometime between 6.30pm on Saturday and 10am on Sunday. Anyone with information should call Braintree police on 01376 551312.
