TAXI passengers in Rayleigh and Rochford face a price rise as they have not increased since September 2004.
Rochford District Council's taxi licensing subcommittee will be recommended to agree an increase of an average 8 per cent to last until September 2007.
The new proposals will give an average increase of 8.13 per cent without any changes to extra charges or the night time rate.
